How To Install Beyond Compare Ubuntu

Linux Installation Instructions

Debian, Ubuntu

Beyond Compare 4.1 and newer require matching package and OS architecture (amd64.deb or i386.deb).  Across Compare 3 - four.0.7 crave the i386.deb package on all supported versions of Debian and Ubuntu (32-flake and 64-fleck).

Beyond Compare 3 on Debian viii, 9 64-bit

Enable 32-bit architecture back up: sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386

Graphical Install

Double click on the .deb bundle to install using the graphical packet manager.

Terminal Install

wget https://www.scootersoftware.com/bcompare-four.4.ane.26165_amd64.deb
sudo apt update
sudo apt install ./bcompare-4.4.i.26165_amd64.deb


Terminal Uninstall

sudo apt remove bcompare

Redhat Enterprise Linux, Fedora, CentOS

Beyond Compare 4.1 and newer crave matching package and OS architecture (x86_64.rpm or i386.rpm).  Beyond Compare 3 - 4.0.seven crave the i386.rpm package on all supported versions of RHEL, Fedora and CentOS (32-bit and 64-bit).

Graphical Install

Double click on the .rpm package to install using the graphical package manager.

Terminal Install

wget https://www.scootersoftware.com/bcompare-iv.iv.1.26165.x86_64.rpm
su
rpm --import https://www.scootersoftware.com/RPM-GPG-KEY-scootersoftware
yum install bcompare-4.four.1.26165.x86_64.rpm


Terminal Uninstall

su
yum remove bcompare

openSUSE

Across Compare iv.1 and newer require matching packet and OS architecture (x86_64.rpm or i386.rpm).  Beyond Compare 3 - 4.0.seven crave the i386.rpm package on all versions of openSUSE (32-bit and 64-bit).

Concluding Install

zypper refresh
zypper install https://www.scootersoftware.com/bcompare-4.4.1.26165.x86_64.rpm


Terminal Uninstall

Installation using .tar.gz

This is the merely install method that allows installation by non-root users.  It is also advisable for Linux distributions that don't back up .deb or .rpm packages.  This method requires manual installation of dependencies, so if your distribution supports .deb or .rpm, you should utilize those packages instead of .tar.gz.

If you run the .tar.gz installer as root, Beyond Compare is installed system wide.  If you lot run the .tar.gz installer equally a normal user, it is installed in the current user'due south abode directory.

tar zxvf bcompare-4.four.one.26165.i386.tar.gz
cd bcompare-4.4.i.26165
./install.sh


Final Uninstall (installed every bit normal user)

$Abode/lib/beyondcompare/uninstall.sh


Terminal Uninstall (installed every bit root)

su
/usr/lib/beyondcompare/uninstall.sh
